I'm going to L.A.!!!

Last year, when doing research for grants that would send me fabulous places (Japan - check, Germany - check), I stumbled across a study grant for the Korea Academy, held in Los Angeles. Odd, I originally thought. This was a study grant about Korea in Los Angeles, which didn't make sense to me. After further digging, I found out that one of our nation's highest concentrated areas of Korean Americans is in LA, and its Koreatown is one of the largest, if not the largest, in the nation. So I applied, and disappointingly, was turned down.

When the time came around to apply this year, I tried again, and last week received an e-mail that I was in! I AM THRILLED! I have never been to Los Angeles, and am excited about going. This blog will cover my adventures as I get ready to spend a week in Los Angeles, learning about Korea at the Korean Cultural Center, and tackling the big city as only a Midwesterner can!
